A Mid Century design classic and stunning Habitat “Days Forum” 3 seater sofa, designed by Robin Day in 1964 and originally produced for Hille. This sofa was then produced by Habitat under licence until 2014.

This piece is covered in the original wool fabric that is a gorgeous Raspberry maroon which perfectly complements the beech frame.

The item is in very good condition with the fabric still in great condition and very little marks to the wood. The chrome has some very minor pitting to the chrome supports but is not detamental to the sofa.

This is now a design classic and it is very rare to find one in its original fabric as most were purchased in leather.

Robin Day’s radical design puts the structure on the outside; slender exterior chromed metal square bars support the wood panelled frame which in turn houses the beautiful premium leather upholstery. This British designed and Italian-made seating range is a lesson in simplicity, and a deservedly popular design classic.

Robin Day was one of the most influential British furniture designers of the twentieth century and together with his wife, the designer Lucienne Day, have often been compared to their US contemporaries, Charles and Ray Eames. He came to prominence at the Festival of Britain in 1951, designing the seating for the Royal Festival Hall, and his furniture is still widely used in homes and public spaces throughout the world.

The frame is in very good vintage condition with only minor marks. The leather has been cleaned and nourished and so it soft an supple. Extra fabric has been added to the bottom of the 3 base cushions to protect the original fabric as these are a week point in the design as they sit on the metal frame.
